Dr. Heather King is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Stanford in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Pain Medicine. She holds two leadership positions: Pain Psychology Fellowship Director and Patient Education Director. Dr. King’s areas of expertise are in evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and is board certified in Biofeedback (BCB) by the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA). Her research focus includes serving as a master CBT-trainer for several NIH grants and as Director of Behavioral Services for Northern California EMPOWER study. Dr. King has a strong interest in creating novel interdisciplinary programs for functional rehabilitation for patients with chronic pain conditions. She has developed and is testing integrated protocols for co-occurring chronic pain and insomnia. She is passionate about helping people connect with their life-purpose, reclaim their power, and develop patterns of behavior that move them in a valued direction.
